The floor was published on

DJ Jazzy D ’ randomness web site in 2017, and has so far racked up more than 3,200 Facebook shares .

“ A 24-year-old female tourist from Germany has reportedly given birth to a litter of german Shepherd puppies in Stellenbosch, Western Cape Province after being hospitalised with severe digest pains. ” The narrative says the tourist “ would frequently have sex with the family dog, Jonsey, because she couldn ’ thyroxine find a date ” .

In January 2019 Facebook flagged the report as possibly false. And it is false, merely because even if a homo and a frank did have sex, the two species are indeed unlike they couldn ’ t make babies, as we explain soon .

A puppy? A goat?

The story ’ s attest is a photograph of some kind of newborn animal – furred, apparently all in and spotted with blood – with a confront that appears human .

But an earlier fact-check by Snopes find that the double was first published on-line in a 2016 narrative claiming it was the carcase of a neonate butt. The article noted the animal ’ s human-like side but said it could have been trampled by its mother, which could have disfigured it .

The photograph has resurfaced many times since then with claims that it is of a human-animal loanblend. Examples can be found on Empire News, immediately 8 News and the Week

Can a dog and a human make puppies?

very closely refer species – like horses and donkeys – can mate and reproduce. But even then, their babies are sterile. The young of horses and donkeys are called mules, and mules can ’ thymine reproduce .

Tigers and lions are besides closely related, and sometimes do match in captivity. Their offspring – known as ligers if the mother is a tiger, and tigons if the mother is a leo – are besides aseptic .

But humans and dogs are very different species .

The end common ancestor of horses and donkeys lived about 4 million years ago. The last common ancestor of tigers and lions lived about 3.8 million years ago. But the last coarse ancestor of humans and dogs lived an estimated 96 million years ago – while there were still dinosaurs on the planet .

Animals sol distantly related can ’ thyroxine reproduce because their bodies are so different .

An article by the Tech Museum at Stanford University in the US explains :

Dogs and people have very different sets of instructions in their deoxyribonucleic acid. Their genomes are merely besides different to come in concert and make something that will live …

Imagine you take the instructions for making an airplane and instructions for making a curled iron and mix them together. If you use those shuffle instructions it would be identical improbable you ’ five hundred make a flying machine that curls your hair .

rather you ’ d most likely get a bus of metal that can ’ t do anything.

The mind is the like for how we can ’ thyroxine get a half man/half andiron. The instructions are just besides different to make anything meaningful .

It ’ s still not absolved what animal is in the photograph. But it ’ s decidedly not a puppy bear to a “ german tourist ”. – Africa Check ( 22/01/19 )
