Adding a small sauce seemed to be the means to go but I kept it simple with shop bought items from my pantry. I mixed together catsup, BBQ sauce, honey and apple cider vinegar for a rich, sweet concoction that had good the correct sum of nip. Once the mix was done, I warmed up my sauce on the side of the grill while I got my dogs ready .

This is where, honestly, everyone can “ be there own chef ” and just do what you like. I decided to cut little hash marks on my hot dogs and they turned out amazing. I cut slits down one side then turned the links and cut down the opposite room. The key is when those links hit the heat and begin to grill, they turn something sol crisp and fat you ’ ll be wondering why you never cooked a hot dog like this ahead ! last but not least is that sauce. It ’ s superintendent bare but when it seeps down into the affectionate slits of that grilled frank, it ’ s like I said before, the word the guys used was farcical. I agree, absolutely, 100 % .

Grilled Barbecued Hot Dogs

Grilled “hatch marked” hot dogs slathered with homemade barbeque sauce makes takes any cookout over the top! With just a few store bought ingredients, you’ll make look like a rock start to family & friends.

  • 1 2 pound package hot dogs or 2 one irish pound bags I use Nathans All Beef Hot Dogs
  • 1 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup prepare BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons beloved
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • splash of water if needed


  • Heat gas or charcole grill to medium high heat.

  • Using a sharp knife, cut hash marks in each hot dog – first going one way down, then reverse the cut for the other way. Set aside.

  • In a small skillet or heat proof pan, add ketchup, BBQ sauce, honey and apple cider vinegar. Place pan on grill to the side to heat up. 

  • When grill comes to temperature, place hot dogs on grates. Turn hot dogs until they start to get grill marks and are heated through. Using a grill brush, gently glaze each hot dog with heated BBQ sauce.Turn links and continue to coat with sauce.

  • When done, remove hot dogs from grill and serve with your favorite bun and toppings!
